Rick Attison, 16, belonged to a gang he thought was pretty cool. The Black Knights were the best friends a guy could ask for – loyal and protective. If Rick was in trouble, Blade and the boys were always there. Well, usually always there. Rick had come to understand that sometimes he just didn’t count, but, hey, that was okay. The same went for Rick – he was always there for his boys and Rick never, ever, backed down from a fight.
Lately, though, Rick was getting worried about Blade. The leader of the Knights was becoming increasingly violent and deliberately cruel, two things Rick wasn’t. Blade didn’t seem to care who he hurt, or what he did, even to his own gang. At times, Rick was sickened by what his leader did, but he never really questioned it. After all, Blade was their leader, and that meant whatever he wanted to do, the gang did. Rick never objected to Blade’s “lessons” if whomever was being taught the lesson was being disrespectful. After all, the Knights had a rep to maintain, especially on the streets. But sometimes Blade went too far, and Rick was beginning to wonder what he was doing with the Knights.
